Griebnitz Canal

The Griebnitz Canal, also known in German as the Griebnitzkanal or the Prinz-Friedrich-Leopold-Kanal, is a canal in the western suburbs of Berlin, the capital city of Germany. It consists of a chain of small lakes, the Stölpchensee, Pohlesee and Kleiner Wannsee, together with artificial channels linking them together.

The canal connects the Griebnitzsee, a lake on the course of the Teltow Canal, with the Großer Wannsee, a lake on the course of the River Havel. Including the three intermediate lakes, it has a length of 3.9 kilometres (2.4 mi) and is navigable by boats with a draught of up to 1.3 metres (4 ft 3 in). It has no locks, but is crossed by three bridges, with a maximum clearance of 5 metres (16 ft).

Finow Canal

The Finow Canal (German Finowkanal) is one of the oldest artificial waterways in Europe. The channel, about 50 kilometres (31 mi) long, is in the German state of Brandenburg in the Barnim district. It was built for the first time in 1605 and connects the Oder and Havel rivers. The river Ragöse flows into the canal.

After completion of the straighter Oder–Havel Canal in 1914, the economic relevance of the Finow Canal decreased. Today it is mainly used for tourism. The Experimental Radio Station Eberswalde is also at the Finow Canal.

Berlin-Spandau Ship Canal

Coordinates: 52°32′12″N 13°21′49″E / 52.5366°N 13.3637°E / 52.5366; 13.3637 (Spandauer-Schiffahrtskanal) The Berlin-Spandau Ship Canal, or Berlin-Spandauer Schifffahrtskanal in German, is a canal in Berlin, Germany. It was built between 1848 and 1859 to a plan created by Peter Joseph Lenné, and was formerly known as the Hohenzollern Canal or Hohenzollernkanal.

The 12.2-kilometre (7.6 mi) long canal links the River Havel north of Spandau to the River Spree near the Hauptbahnhof in Berlin. Because it joins the River Havel upstream of the river lock at Spandau, it provides a more direct route from the River Spree to the Oder–Havel Canal.

The Westhafen, Berlin's largest port with an area of 173,000 m² (42.75 acres), lies on the Berlin-Spandau Ship Canal some 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) from its eastern (River Spree) end. The Westhafen Canal and Charlottenburg Canal also connect the port to the River Spree further downstream in Charlottenburg.
