Yves Daccord (born in 1964 in Zürich, Switzerland) is the Director-General of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Directorate.
Daccord earned a B.A. in political science from the University of Geneva. He was a TV journalist at the Télévision Suisse Romande in Geneva and producer.
He joined the ICRC in 1992. In 1997, he became deputy head of the Division for the Promotion of International Humanitarian Law. In 1998 he became head of the Communication Division, in 2002 director of Communication. He was named director-general effective July 1, 2010.
In 2015, World Health Organization Director General Margaret Chan appointed Daccord as member of the Advisory Group on Reform of WHO’s Work in Outbreaks and Emergencies with Health and Humanitarian Consequences.
Daccord is married, and has three children.
