Young Greens of the United States

The Young Greens of the United States are the youth and college branch of the Green Party of the United States. Any members of the Green Party of the United States under the age of 35 are permitted to join the organization. The organization is lead by four co-chairs, a treasurer, a secretary, and both a delegate and alternative delegate to the National Committee.

There are currently 24 chapters registered with the Young Greens of the United States, spanning twenty states. Chapters are responsible for organizing and representing the Green Party of the United States on campus as well as engage in dialogue with other student run organizations, as well as represent the Green Party in their communities of operation.

The Green Party permits each of its Identity Caucuses to hold primaries and awards each caucus two delegates to the Green National Convention.

The Young Greens of the United States held their primaries online from March 28, 2016 to April 5, 2016. Jill Stein received both of the 2016 Young Greens Presidential Primary votes with approximately ninety two percent of ballots cast being allocated to her. The Young Greens bylaws require that the two delegates be divided proportionally to the total valid votes cast. The only exception is if one candidate receives more than twice as many votes as the runner up. The only eligible voters are individuals registered as Greens and members of the Young Green Caucus.

The Young Greens of the United States have bylaws based on education of other youth, the ten key values of the Green Party of the United States, encourage the growth of the Green Party nationally, and give Young Greens a stronger voice in the Green Party of the United States.
