The World Trade Center (also known as WTC Colombo or WTCC) is the second tallest building in Sri Lanka. Standing over 152 m (499 ft) from the ground, it ranks as the fourth tallest twin tower in South Asia. WTCC runs under the management of Overseas Realty Ceylon plc (better known as ORCPLC). ORCPLC is a part of Mireka Capital Land (pvt) Ltd which owns the Havelock City Project, one of the largest residential projects in Asia.
The WTCC was opened on 12 October 1997 by then President of Sri Lanka Chandrika Kumaratunga. The centre consists of two identical 40-story east and west towers.
In the later years of the Sri-Lankan civil war, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) attacked the WTCC twice. A 1997 truck bombing killed 15 people.
