World Habitat Award

The World Habitat Awards were established in 1985 by the Building and Social Housing Foundation as part of its contribution to the United Nations' International Year of Shelter for the Homeless in 1987.

Two awards are given annually to projects from the Global South as well as the North that provide practical, innovative and sustainable solutions to current housing needs, which are capable of being transferred or adapted for use elsewhere.

The World Habitat Awards celebrate projects & approaches that:

Each year we award two winning projects who will both receive £10,000 prize money, international recognition for their achievements along with an opportunity to attend an award ceremony at a global UN-HABITAT event in 2019.

The 2018-19 online application form will open on our website on 1 January 2018 and will close on 31 March 2018. Applications can be made online via the World Habitat Awards website.
