Workboard, Inc. is a company specializing in performance management software in Redwood City, California. It was founded in 2013 by Deidre Paknad and her husband Daryoush Paknad.
Deidre Paknad has a history of founding companies before Workboard, including PSS Systems which was acquired by IBM in 2010. After working at IBM she thought of the idea for Workboard after dealing with inefficiency in her tenure there. Starting at their founding in 2013 Paknad, along with her husband and co-founder Daryoush Paknad, focused on "VQ", Velocity Quotient, that they define as the speed at which an organization is able to accomplish a goal. In 2014 Workboard secured US$2,750,000 in Series A round funding from several Venture Capital firms including: Opus Capital, Granite Ventures, Crosslink Capital and Shea Ventures with Chris Hollenbeck and Carl Showalter joining the board of directors. Over 10,000 organizations now use Workboard including: IBM, VMware and THX.
Workboard is designed to allow managers to set goals, define metrics, and engage teams to achieve those goals. The app visually depicts goals to management and team members with charts and graphics to simplify the understanding in large project scenarios. The app has been expanded over the years from a desktop web application to supporting both iOS environment and Android for mobile device use.
