William James Young was the head coach for the William & Mary Tribe men's basketball team from 1911–1913. He led the Tribe to a 10–6 record during his two-year tenure. Young was also the head coach of William & Mary's football team for two seasons, 1911 and 1912. He went 1–12–2 during that time. Young went on to serve as athletics director at the University of Maine in 1917. He had previously attained his M.D. at the University of Pennsylvania.
