What Say You Meg?

"What Say You Meg?" is a song composed by Sting for the musical The Last Ship, as a replacement for the song entitled "Practical Arrangement" which was included on The Last Ship album.

As explained by Sting himself during The Last Ship Benefit Shows at NY Public Theater, "Practical Arrangement" didn't make the cut for the play, as the character featured in the song (an older man named Arthur, in love with a younger woman) was not "getting the girl." Though Sting admits that this character refers to himself, he struggled with this issue for a whole month to paint down the outline of a viable, young, virile man... Eventually, he came up with the song "What Say You Meg?", a haunting ballad. It was written by Sting in 2013 after almost a decade of writer's block. According with the play, lyrics are settled in time and space, but they look ravishing and eternal.
