The West Middletown Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

The racial makeup of the borough was 90.28% White, 4.17% African American, 1.39% Pacific Islander, and 4.17% from two or more races.
There were 61 households out of which 26.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.7% were married couples living together, 6.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.5% were non-families. 23.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
