Wenceslaus and Wenceslas (and other similar) are Latinized forms of the Slavic name (in different forms) Czech: Václav, Polish: Wacław, Więcesław, Russian: , Croatian: Vjenceslav, among others. It originated as a Latin spelling for West Slavic rulers.
