We Live Here is an album by the Pat Metheny Group, released in 1995 by Geffen Records. The album eschews the Group's Brazilian-tinged jazz for downtempo and world music, incorporating a slick modern sound coupled with drum loops and sampling. It also features the highest level of compositional collaboration between Lyle Mays and Pat Metheny since the Group's 1979 album, American Garage. Mays and Metheny composed all of the album's songs except "Episode d'Azur."
After touring Letter from Home and recording of Secret Story, Metheny spent time in Miami, Florida, to work on the album. The incorporation of drum loops and R&B-inspired sounds yielded not only great commercial success but great satisfaction from Metheny regarding the album's song craft, which he feels is some of the strongest that he and Mays have done together.
A tour for the album followed its release, and a live performance in Japan was recorded with Brazilian percussionist Armando Marçal.
