"Way Out West" is the debut single by Australian band The Dingoes. It was released in October 1973 and peaked in the top 40 of the Australian Kent Music Report singles chart. and reached #26 in Melbourne, it became their signature tune.

The lyrics tell of a man who has left his job and wife in the city to work for a company drilling for oil and enjoys “living and a working on the land”

Released in 1973 #40 on the "the Dingoes" album (released on 1974)

In 1991, Australian country artists' James Blundell and James Reyne recorded a version and it became a huge hit, peaking at #2 in Australia. It was the highest charting single for both singers. It was included on Blundell’s album “This Road” and Reyne’s “The Best”, both released in 1992.

“Way Out West” debuted at #28 in March 1992, before peaking at #2 in April and May
