Waropen Regency is one of the regencies (kabupaten) in Papua province, Indonesia. The Regency covers an area of 10,977.09 km2, and it had a population of 24,639 at the 2010 Census; the latest official estimate (as at January 2014) is 30,318. The capital is the town of Botawa.
Originally, this area comprised those districts of the Yapen Islands Regency which lay on the Papuan mainland, but these districts were split off to constitute a separate regency on 12 November 2002, leaving the Yapen Islands Regency consisting only of Yapen Island and some smaller islands in Cenderawasih Bay.
