The Wardey is an ethnic community found in Southern Somalia (Lower Jubba) and Eastern Kenya, mostly along the Tana River. The Wardey are pastoralist community. They live in Tana River County alongside with the Pokomo, Orma, Wailwana and Watta Communities. The tribe has a population of about 76,000 people (2009). The Wardey Community commonly use Somali language, since they derived from Dir clan with Bimaal, Gaadsen,Isaaq,Issa,Gadabuursi and many other Dir tribes.
