WICD is the ABC-affiliated television station for the cities of Champaign and Urbana, Illinois. It broadcasts a high definition digital signal on UHF channel 41 (or virtual channel 15.1 via PSIP) from a transmitter, northeast of Homer, along the Vermilion-Champaign County line. Owned by the Sinclair Broadcast Group, WICD has studios on South Country Fair Drive in Downtown Champaign.
Although considered a separate station in its own right, the outlet is actually operated as a full-time satellite of WICS in Springfield/Decatur. WICD airs the same broadcast schedule as its parent station but features separate legal identifications and local commercial inserts. Even though the station maintains its own facilities, master control and most internal operations are based within WICS' studios on East Cook Street in Springfield's Eastside section. WICD serves the eastern half of the market while WICS serves the western portion.
Through joint sales and shared services agreements, WICS also operates the area's Fox affiliate WRSP-TV (and its semi-satellite, WCCU) as well as CW outlet WBUI (all are owned by GOCOM Media, LLC). WRSP and WBUI share studios with WICS but WBUI also maintains an advertising sales office on South Main Street/U.S. 51 in Downtown Decatur. WCCU's advertising sales operation is based out of WICD's studios.
