Vugelles-La Mothe is a municipality in the district of Jura-Nord Vaudois of the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.

Vugelles-La Mothe has an area, as of 2009^[update], of 3.1 square kilometers (1.2 sq mi). Of this area, 0.95 km² (0.37 sq mi) or 30.9% is used for agricultural purposes, while 1.97 km² (0.76 sq mi) or 64.2% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.13 km² (32 acres) or 4.2% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.01 km² (2.5 acres) or 0.3% is either rivers or lakes and 0.04 km² (9.9 acres) or 1.3% is unproductive land.

Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 1.3% and transportation infrastructure made up 2.3%. Out of the forested land, 60.6% of the total land area is heavily forested and 3.6% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 14.0% is used for growing crops and 14.3% is pastures, while 1.3% is used for orchards or vine crops and 1.3% is used for alpine pastures. All the water in the municipality is flowing water.

The municipality was part of the Yverdon District until it was dissolved on 31 August 2006, and Vugelles-La Mothe became part of the new district of Jura-Nord Vaudois.

The blazon of the municipal coat of arms is Pally of Six Argent and Azure, overall an Owl proper standing on a semi Mining-weel Or.

Vugelles-La Mothe has a population (as of December 2015^[update]) of 136. As of 2008^[update], 5.9% of the population are resident foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years (1999–2009 ) the population has changed at a rate of 5.5%. It has changed at a rate of 3.6% due to migration and at a rate of 0% due to births and deaths.

Most of the population (as of 2000^[update]) speaks French (81 or 81.8%) as their first language, German is the second most common (14 or 14.1%) and English is the third (2 or 2.0%).
