Virginia City Hybrid Energy Center

The Virginia City Hybrid Energy Center, VCHEC, is a power station located in St. Paul, Wise County Virginia. The 600 MW plant was fired-up in July of 2012 after four years of construction. The plant deploys circulating fluidized bed boiler technology to use a variety of fuel sources including bituminous coal, coal gob, a waste product from abandoned coal mines, and bio-fuels. This energy center uses waste coal.
