Various Failures is a compilation album by American post-rock band Swans. It was released on March 22, 1999 and contains tracks from White Light from the Mouth of Infinity, Love of Life, The Burning World, and The World of Skin's Ten Songs for Another World. In addition, it contains B-sides, rarities, and previously unreleased tracks.
The CD was re-released in 2000 but disc two (Red CD) of the 2000 edition dropped "Can't Find My Way Home" and "Love Will Tear Us Apart (Jarboe version)" and "New Mind (acoustic version)". "The Sound Of Freedom" and "Saved" was added to disk two instead.
The only unreleased tracks (besides some songs that have been faded in/out) are a longer version of "Why Are We Alive", a different version of "Unfortunate Lie (instrumental version)" and a demo version of "When She Breathes" (poor recording quality). "New Mind (acoustic version)" and "Love Will Tear Us Apart (Jarboe version)" had never been previously available on CD.
