Val sans Retour

In Arthurian legend, the Val sans Retour (Vale or Valley of No Return) is an enchanted land in which the powerful sorceress Morgan le Fay imprisons her lovers. The spell is eventually broken by Lancelot. The Val sans Retour has been identified with an area of the same name in Paimpont forest in Brittany, southwest of Rennes, which tradition has long held to be the site of the legendary forest of Brocéliande.

The Val sans Retour, also known as "Val des faux amants" (Vale of fake lovers) or "Val périlleux" (perillous Vale) is thought to correspond to a geographical site in Britanny, France, whose local tale echoes that of theArthurian novels. It is one of the most famous site of the forest whose legal name is Paimpont, but is best known as the forest of Brocéliande. Le Petit Futé 2011, a French travel guide, ranks it among the top 100 most beautiful natural sites in France, and considers it "the most mysterious point of the forest". Each year, especially during summer, the site welcomes many tourists, attracting them thanks to both its changing landscapes and the tales and legends attached to it.
