The University of Ghana Medical School (UGMS) is the graduate Medical School of Ghana's largest and Premier Public University University of Ghana. It is also the largest and the Premier Medical School currently located at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra. The Medical school was first planned in 1919, but took its first students in 1962.
In the 2006-2007 academic year, the medical school had an enrollment of 8 , and rising, at least a quarter of which are women.
The Medical School has two programs: the undergraduate MB ChB program for students from the Secondary School, and the Graduate Entry Medical Program for Graduate students with a Bachelor of Science degree. It has also runs a (GEMP) Graduate Entrance Medical Programme for people who did Bachelor Degrees in the Sciences but not Medicine
