The Academy of Government at the University of Edinburgh is a public policy and public administration school. It offers master's degrees in public policy and, from 2012, public administration. The School's primary campus is located on George Square at the heart of the University of Edinburgh campus.

The Academy's Director is Charlie Jeffery who is also Professor of Politics and Head of the School of Social and Political Science at the University. Previously, Jeffery was professor at the University of Birmingham and Deputy Director of its Institute for German Studies. He worked on the Calman Commission and has advised the House of Commons Select Committee on the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, the Committee on Standards in Public Life, the EU Committee of the Regions and the Commission on Scottish Devolution.

The Academy of Government was established in 2011 by the University of Edinburgh to prepare students and professionals for leadership roles in the public sector, international organisations, and the voluntary sector. In addition to its role in educating future leaders the Academy produces ideas and research that assist in solving public problem problems at the sub-national, national, and international levels.

The Academy offers interdisciplinary programmes combining politics, economics, social policy, and law. It launched the first Master of Public Policy (MPP) degree in the United Kingdom in 2011 and offers a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from 2012.
