Voters chose 12 representatives, or electors to the Electoral College, who voted for President and Vice President.

Virginia voted for the Republican nominee, incumbent Vice President Richard Nixon, over the Democratic nominee, Senator John F. Kennedy. Kennedy ultimately won the national election with 49.72% of the vote.
