Uliyin Osai (Tamil: உளியின் ஒசை, English: Sound of Chisel) is a 2008 Indian Tamil period drama film written by Karunanidhi and directed by Ilavenil, starring Vineeth in the lead role, with Keerthi Chawla. The Soundtrack Album and Background Score were Composed by Ilaiyaraja with lyrics by Vaali, Kamakodiyan, Mu. Metha, Muthulingam, Pazhani Bharathi, Snehan and Na. Muthukumar.
The story is set in 1005 AD. Raja Chozhan and his son Rajendra want to build a temple and choose Iniyan, a sculptor for the purpose. He wants a girl who can pose for sculpting. He finally comes across a poor girl who is graceful.
Soundtrack was composed by Ilaiyaraaja and lyrics were written by Kamakodiyan, Muhammed Metha, Muthulingam, Pazhani Bharathi, Snehan, Na. Muthukumar & Vaali.
The movie opened with a promising note but mostly got negative reviews.
Karunanidhi received the Tamil Nadu State award in 2008 as best dialogue writer.
Kovai Sarala received the Tamil Nadu State award in 2008 for best comedian.
