Two-banded seabream (Diplodus prayensis) is a species of marine fish of the Sparidae (Sparids) family. This fish grows to 35 cm maximal length. It occurs in the eastern Atlantic, off the coast of Cape Verde down to the depths of about 100 metres. The species were named by Jean Cadenat in 1964.

The genus name is of where it was founded, near Praia, the name uses prayensis, sometimes it can be known as Diplodus praiensis even though the Portuguese spelling Praya was changed to Praia in September 1911 during its orthography reform , before the species was named and described. Their habitat is in the waters around Praia and the south of Santiago and probably many parts of the island.

Its relative at the Banded seabream (Diplodus fasciatus).

It feeds on invertebrates and algae.

The fish are founded in waters down to 100 metres deep.
