Tshepo Motsepe


Tshepo Motsepe is the current second lady of South Africa and the wife of Cyril Ramaphosa the Deputy President of South Africa and the deputy president of South African ruling party the ANC.

Tshepo Motsepe studied as a medical doctor. She graduated from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal with her MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery) and went on to complete her MPH (Masters in Public Health) in Maternal Child Health and Aging at Harvard Medical School. In 2013, she completed a SEPC (Social Entrepreneurship Certificate Program) at the Gordon Institute of Business Science and is current chairperson of the African Self Help Association, focusing on the improvement of early childhood development and education.

Over the years, she has worked in both private practice and in hospitals in South Africa and Zimbabwe. Her services outside of medical practice include:

Non-executive director – Wits Health Consortium and Wits Hospice

Patron – South African Civil Society for Women’s, Adolescents and Children’s Health (SACSoWACH)

Patron – Students Sponsorship Program (SSP)

Served as Chairperson of Gauteng Health Department’s Accreditation Committee

Former board member Vaal Reefs Disaster Trust

Former board member Kids Haven Foundation

Membership – National Medical and Dental Association.

Tshepo is also the sister of South Africas first black Billionaire Patrice Motsepe. Tshepo is the second wife of Cyril Ramaphosa and the couple have four children.
