It was released on September 30, 2016, as the second single of Cashmere Cat's debut studio album, Wild Love (2016). Cashmere Cat co-wrote the track with Benny Blanco, Frank Dukes, Starrah and Selena Gomez. It was produced by Cashmere Cat, Benny Blanco and Frank Dukes.
The music video for "Trust Nobody" was released on November 16, 2016. It was directed by Jake Schreier and starring five dancers Jasmin Williams, Talia Koylass, Raphael Thomas, Dominique McDougal and Wally Pham, which were dancing on a stage built in the desert.
