Trae Bell-Haynes (born September 5, 1995) is a Canadian college basketball player for the Vermont Catamounts of the America East Conference. Bell-Haynes was a two-star recruit in 2014's composite player rankings, having played at Bill Crothers Secondary School in Unionville, Ontario. Bell-Haynes was only recruited by Vermont, and signed with the school on a scholarship on March 17, 2014.
Bell-Haynes played a large role in Bill Crothers' success as a basketball team. He was named the team captain as a senior and led the team in scoring and assists on the way to a 36-6 record. Bell-Haynes was also named MVP of the 2014 Ontario Prep Championships Tournament. Bell-Haynes verbally committed to the University of Vermont on a basketball scholarship, and signed a letter of intent shortly thereafter.
Bell-Haynes made the America East All-Rookie Team in the 2014-15 season, averaging 8.8 points per game in 26.3 minutes per game. During the 2015-16 season, Bell-Haynes made the America East All-Conference Third Team and All-Tournament Team following a season in which he played an average of 27.6 minutes per game while averaging 12.2 points. Bell-Haynes' junior season, the 2016-17 season, saw Bell-Haynes and the Catamounts reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in his career and only the sixth time in school history. Bell-Haynes led the Catamounts to a 29-5 record, including a perfect 16-0 record in the America East and a 21-game winning streak to end the regular season and America East Tournament, which the Catamounts won. Bell-Haynes' efforts earned him America East Player of the Year and All-Conference First Team Honors as he put up 11.1 points per game in 27.4 minutes per game. Following the regular season and conference tournament, the Catamounts were the #13 seed in the Midwest region of the bracket for the NCAA Tournament. The Catamounts played 4th-seeded Purdue and lost 70-80.
