The Toyota GD engine series is a diesel engine produced by Toyota which appeared in 2015. Replacing the Toyota KD engine series, this engine featured Economy with Superior Thermal Efficient Combustion (ESTEC) technology.
The 1GD-FTV is a 2.8L (2755cc) straight-4 common rail diesel engine with a variable nozzle turbocharger (VNT), chain drive and Intercooler. It has 16 valves and a DOHC (double overhead camshaft) design. Its compression ratio is 15.6:1. Bore x stroke is 92.0 mm x 103.6 mm. It generates 177 PS (175 hp; 130 kW) at 3400 rpm, and 450 N·m (332 lbf·ft) of torque at 1400-2600 rpm when mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, depending on target market and emission specifications. With manual transmission, outputs are 177 PS (175 hp; 130 kW) and 420 N·m (310 lbf·ft). Average fuel consumption (in JC08 method) is 11.2 km/l.
This engine was first used in Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, second generation Toyota Innova in some countries, second generation Toyota Fortuner and eighth generation Toyota Hilux.
The 2GD-FTV is a 2.4L (2393cc) straight-4 common rail diesel engine with a variable nozzle turbocharger (VNT), VVT-i, and intercooler. It has 16 valves and a DOHC (double overhead camshaft) design. Its compression ratio is 15.6:1. Bore x stroke is 92.0 mm x 90.0 mm. It generates 149 PS (147 hp; 110 kW) at 3400 rpm, and 400 N·m (295 lbf·ft; 41 kg·m) of torque at 1600-2000 rpm when mated to 6-speed automatic transmission or manual transmission, depending on target market and emission specifications.
