Ticknall Cricket Club is an amateur cricket club based in Ticknall, Derbyshire, England. They consist of four senior sides and a variety of youth teams. The first team competes in the Derbyshire Premier League. Their home ground is called the Grange and often wins praise for being the most picturesque ground in Derbyshire. They are also known throughout Derbyshire for their loyal fans. This fan-base is affectionately known as the 'Tickers Army'.
Until 2014 the first team was captained by the Swadlincote born Luke Harvey. Scot Chillman then captained for the next two seasons, but after his resignation in September 2016, Paul Borrington has taken over the reigns.
Ticknall CC share a geographical and competitive rivalry with Swarkstone CC. Both first teams compete in the Derbyshire Premier League and although Swarkstone are known for their outlandish spending on players, it is often Ticknall that ends up victorious when the two sides meet. This includes a league double for Ticknall in the 2014 season, in which they were the first team to beat Swarkstone away in over two years. In July 2016 an unbeaten and top of the table Swarkstone arrived at the grange as odds on favourites to win. But they unfortunately suffered a series of collapses and were bowled out for 168 in the first innings. This total was then knocked off by Ticknall for the loss of no wickets. Off the last ball with only 4 runs needed for victory, Paul Borrington (who was on 94) hit a six to win the game and complete an emphatic century.
