Thunersee–Beatenberg Bahn

The Thunersee–Beatenberg railway (German: Thunersee–Beatenberg Bahn; TBB) is a funicular in the Swiss Canton of Berne. It links Beatenbucht on Lake Thun, served by shipping services on the lake, to the village of Beatenberg, situated on the plateau above at 1,120 metres (3,675 ft) above sea level.

The funicular, opened in 1889, has a length of 1,695 metres (5,561 ft) and overcomes a vertical distance of 556 metres (1,824 ft) with a maximum gradient of 41%. The line was completely reconstructed between October 2004 and July 2005, and new modern style cars accommodating 90 passengers each were provided. There are two such cars operating on a Single track of 1,200 mm (3 ft 11 14 in) narrow-gauge track with a central passing loop. There is one intermediate stop, at Birchi, and a single journey takes 10 minutes.

At Beatenberg, the funicular connects with the Seilbahnen Beatenberg-Niederhorn, a gondola lift which runs to the summit of the Niederhorn.
