Thoppur , Thoppur Ghat) is a village in Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu, India. Thoppur is a small village on the Thoppur River, located just north of the border of Dharmapuri with Salem district. Thoppur lies between the city of Salem and the town of Dharmapuri on National Highway 7, at its junction with Mettur Dam Road (SH 20). It is 50 kilometres (31 mi) north of the city of Salem and 164 kilometres (102 mi) south of the city of Bangalore.
Thoppur is known for the Thoppaiyaru Dam, Anjaneyar Koil (Mutthampatty), Rope Winch, and Perumal Kovil (on Vanagunda Hill). Thoppur is the home of the Muslim holy shrine, Hazrath Syed Shah Vali Ulla (known as Thoppur Dargha).
Thoppur lies on National Highway 7, a major north-south highway in India. It is also the terminal point of State Highway 20 which connects to the town of Mettur and the city of Erode.
