A mysterious young woman arrives at Wildfell Hall, a nearby old mansion with a young son. She determines to lead an independent existence, but her new neighbors don't want to let her alone. All of them want to reveal her secrets and soon she finds herself the victim of local slander. Only young farmer, Gilbert Markham, compassionated her.
