The Skin (Italian: La pelle) is a 1981 Italian war film directed by Liliana Cavani and starring Marcello Mastroianni, Ken Marshall, Claudia Cardinale and Burt Lancaster, from Curzio Malaparte's book La pelle (The Skin). It was entered into the 1981 Cannes Film Festival.
After the Allies liberate Naples in 1943, both the soldiers and the civilians find war hard, but peace is not much easier, especially for women. Many sacrifice their dignity and morale to survive.
