The New York Observer is a news website which focuses on the city's culture, real estate, media, politics and the entertainment and publishing industries. Its current owner, Jared Kushner, is President Donald Trump's son-in-law and a senior advisor to him. As of January 2016[update], the editorial team is led by Ken Kurson with other writers and editors including Rex Reed, Kara Bloomgarden–Smoke, Will Bredderman, Jillian Jorgensen, Drew Grant, James Jorden, Kim Velsey, and Matthew Kassel.
The Observer was first published in New York City on September 22, 1987, as a weekly newspaper by Arthur L. Carter, a former investment banker. Since July 2006, the paper has been owned by the American real‑estate figure Jared Kushner. The paper began its life as a broadsheet, then was printed in tabloid format every Wednesday. It has its headquarters at 321 West 44th Street in Manhattan.
