Allmusic 3.5/5 stars

The Man I Love is a 1957 album by Peggy Lee, with an orchestra arranged by Nelson Riddle, and conducted by Frank Sinatra.

This was Lee's first 12-inch LP record after re-signing for Capitol Records in 1957.

Allmusic awarded the album three and a half stars with reviewer William Ruhlmann commenting that Lee "(lays) back in understated vocal performances to reinforce the near-victimhood of the woman depicted in the songs. Riddle supports these interpretations with lush string charts that hint of dark feelings. The result is a superb pairing of singer, conductor, and arranger on an album that re-conceives Lee as a Capitol recording artist in the Sinatra concept album mold."
