"The Last Journey Home" is a song by English power metal band DragonForce. The song was released as the second single from their fourth album Ultra Beatdown. Unlike the band's other songs, this song features elements of hard rock music, rather than just power metal and speed metal. The song is a downloadable track of the Guitar Hero franchise, including Guitar Hero Flash. It is one of the band's second longest song to date (the longest being Soldiers Of The Wasteland), however the radio version is shorter.
The lyrics of the song are about a soldier with PTSD, and it is told from his perspective. The song is one of the few songs with vocalist ZP Theart that are not based on armageddon or fantasy.
The music video shows the band in a video game world based on the original Grand Theft Auto game. It shows them first getting into a taxi cab, driving to the place where they are to play a concert. They get their equipment from an inventory box on the screen. The rest of the video shows the band playing in front of an animated audience. At the end of the video, the arena that they are playing in is blown up by a "Sonic Boom".
