The ICMP (The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, formerly known as the Guitar Institute), is an independent, specialist music education provider located in London, UK. Notable alumni include Radiohead guitarist Ed O'Brien, Paloma Faith bassist Andrea Goldsworthy and RnB artist Loick Essien.

Founded in 1985, by session guitarist Alan Limbrick, the Institute was originally known as Guitartech & Basstech, and was focused exclusively on training and developing guitarists and bassists. The 'tech' names were later dropped and the Institute retained the 'Guitar Institute' name. The school now also offers courses in drums, vocals, songwriting, music business and music production.

The school runs courses specializing in guitar, drums, bass, vocals, songwriting, music business and music production. These disciplines are available to study within a number of qualifications, each of which are accredited in a slightly different way.

The school validates its own Higher Diploma qualification. The awarding body is Edexcel.

The Diploma course is delivered in partnership with the College of Northwest London. The validating body is Edexcel.

The BMus (Hons) (Bachelor of Music) in Popular Music Performance is validated by the University of East London.

The Foundation Degree in Creative Musicianship (Foundation Degree) was launched in September 2010 and is validated by Middlesex University.

The Professional Diploma in Songwriting is sponsored by Columbia Records.

The specialist teacher training course (PTLLS) was announced in June 2011. It will be delivered by professional educators, leading to a Level 4 Award, the first step towards gaining Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
