The Greatest Showman is an upcoming American biographical musical drama film directed by Michael Gracey and written by Michael Arndt, Jenny Bicks, and Bill Condon. The film stars Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Rebecca Ferguson, Michelle Williams, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, and Zendaya. It is scheduled for a Christmas Day 2017 release in the United States.
The story of American showman P.T. Barnum, founder of the circus that became the famous traveling Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
In August 2011, Fox hired commercials director and visual effects artist Michael Gracey to direct the musical biopic.
Jackman will feature in the film The Greatest Showman on Earth. The part of Jenny Lind was being scripted for Anne Hathaway. On June 15, 2016, it was reported that Zac Efron began negotiations with the studio to star in the film. In July 2016, Michelle Williams was also revealed to be part of the cast.
Rehearsals on the film began in October 2016 in New York City, while the principal photography began on November 22, 2016.
