The Discovery is the second studio album by the Chicago-based American band Born of Osiris. It was released through Sumerian Records on March 22, 2011. It is also the first album by the band to use seven string guitars, and was produced solely by members of the band. The demo was produced by Periphery's Misha "Bulb" Mansoor. This is the only album to feature guitarist Jason Richardson, prior to him being kicked out of the band abruptly for unknown reasons never disclosed, eventually moving onto Salt Lake City deathcore band Chelsea Grin, never collaborating or returning to the band for any further songs or albums.

The two singles from the album, Recreate and Follow the Signs, are the only two songs that were made into full-length official videos on the SumerianRecords youtube channel. Follow the Signs is their most viewed video to date, acquiring over four million views as of March 29th, 2017. Andrew Pulaski directed both videos. Abstrakt Pictures produced Follow the Signs.

The band wrote all of the lyrics, and produced all of their music throughout the record, with the help of some others.

The seventh track on the album, entitled A Solution, differs exponentially from the band's previous songs and albums--present, past and future, showcasing only clean vocals over an extremely melodic instrumental. The song has been compared regularly to Linkin Park's style. The track sparked debate in the community of fans, though most lean towards it being not a new direction, but a standalone track that was strong for the album.

The 11th track, entitled The Omniscent (An Interlude), is, as implied, an instrumental interlude. The track was used in the introduction to the official video for the single Follow the Signs. The penultimate track, entitled XIV, is also an instrumental, leading into the last track, entitled Behold, which is the longest track on the album, clocking in at five minutes, fifty seconds. It is also the longest song by the band to date.

Cameron Gray made the artwork for the album, named Parable Visions.
