The Ballad of Lefty Brown is a 2017 western written and directed by Jared Moshe, starring Bill Pullman as the titular Lefty Brown, alongside Jim Caviezel, Peter Fonda Kathy Baker and Tommy Flanagan.
It had its world premiere at South by Southwest on March 11, 2017.
The project was announced in September 2016, with a cast of Bill Pullman, Jim Caviezel, Peter Fonda, Kathy Baker and Tommy Flanagan announced. Writer & Director Jared Moshe & Producer Neda Armian considered other locations where they can film the movie. After scouting many different states in the west, they choose Montana to film the movie, because of the authenticity that would bring to the project. More than a 100 locals were used as extras.
Principal photography began on September 8, 2016, with filming taking place at Bannack State Pack in Bannack, Montana, 25 miles southwest of Dillon. Filming lasted for 20 to 23 days at the ghost town park, & production wrapped on October 1, 2016.
The film had its world premiere at South by Southwest on March 11, 2017. Shortly after, A24 and DirecTV Cinema acquired distribution rights to the film.
