Terapon jarbua (Forsskål, 1775) |
Terapon jarbua, Target Fish, Crescent Bass, Crescent Perch or Tiger Bass is a Grunter from the Indo-Pacific. It occasionally makes its way into the aquarium trade. It grows to a size of 36 cm in length although is rarely seen half that size in the aquarium. It gets its name from the concentric circle pattern that can be seen from above, resembling a target. Wild individuals feed on insects, plant matter, small fish, fish scales and crustaceans. This species can be found in brackish water in certain parts of Australia.
