Television X is a series of adult television channels in the UK, produced by Portland TV, a subsidiary of Northern & Shell owned by Richard Desmond, the proprietor of the Daily Express. In 2009, a new logo was placed on all TVX channels; TVX, TVX Amateur and TVX Brits replacing the old logo from 2003. in 2014 Television X announced that they had acquired the exclusive television rights to Down on Abby a porn parody of Downton Abbey and would be airing one episode a week from April 5, 2014.
Television X The Fantasy Channel launched in June 1995. The two original hosts were Charmaine Sinclair and Samantha Jessup with Debbie Corrigan and Kirsten Imrie making occasional appearances. Much of the original programming Superdick, Shagnasty and Mutley, David Dickie's World of Sport etc. was developed by Deric Botham, then editor of Penthouse. The station garnered international publicity when it brought American prostitute Divine Brown over for a launch at Bafta's headquarters in Piccadilly. On Friday nights, DJ Chris Rogers aka Caesar the Geezer presented a live two-hour show with sports agent Eric Hall.
There were additional channels launched later on. These were TVX 2, TVX 3 and TVX 4. During the relaunch in 2009, TVX retained its look and colour (Red), TVX 2 became TVX Amateur (orange), TVX 3 became TVX Brits (Union Jack colours) and TVX 4 became TVX FFWD (Purple). FFWD was short lived, as it closed later on in 2009, and TVX Amateur closed in 2012 when its EPG slot was acquired by Red Hot, the sister network of TVX, while TVX Brits was renamed to TVXXX in 2016.
Girls contracted to Television X in 2008 include Suzie Best, Cathy Barry, Amber Leigh, Renee Richards, Keisha Kane, Cate Harrington, and Donna Marie. In March 2008, glamour model Sammie Pennington was introduced as the new face and body of Television X. Three months later, glamour model Sophie Price was introduced as the new face and body of Television X. In addition, Linsey Dawn McKenzie attended the 2008 UK Adult Film and Television Awards as a representative of Television X and Red Hot TV.
