Teesside High School is a co-educational independent day school in Eaglescliffe, , England.
Teesside High School traces its roots back to the Queen Victoria High School, which was founded in the nineteenth century and located on Yarm Road, .
The Cleveland School was founded in 1938, but moved in 1945 to Woodside Hall on the banks of the River Tees in Eaglescliffe. These buildings were enjoyed by generations of schoolgirls before their demolition in 1970. At this point in time, the two schools merged and the present buildings began their life as Teesside High School.
A system of education evolved towards the end of the twentieth century to address gender differences in education without segregating girls and boys, called the 'Diamond Model'. This was outlined in the Daily Telegraph Guide to Independent Schools and the Service Parents' Guide. Teesside High School adopted this model in 2005.
Boys and girls were taught separately for core subjects from Year 5 through to the completion of GCSE at 16. Boys and girls mixed socially, both in terms of organised activities and unstructured time during breaks in the school day. In 2015, the school moved away from the Diamond Model to become fully co-educational.
Children can start the school’s Little Diamonds Nursery at the start of the term in which they turn three years old, attending on a full-time or part-time basis. The school is a registered provider of the Early Years Provision for three and four year olds and accepts all employer nursery voucher schemes.
Teesside High School Sixth Form is a provider of post-16 education. The school unveiled its new Sixth Form block in May 2014.
Teesside High School was named in the Top Ten North East Independent Schools by The Sunday Times in 2015. The school achieved 100% pass rates at both A Level and GCSE in 2016.
In addition, 70% of students gained the Department of Education English Baccalaureate (EBacc) qualification, which places importance on combining key English, maths and science subjects with a humanity and language.
The school day starts at 8.40am and finishes at 4.00pm. A breakfast club runs from 7.45am and a tea club is available between 3.30pm and 6.00pm.
