Tangerine Records (1963)

Tangerine Records was a record label owned by Ray Charles between 1962 and 1973. ABC-Paramount Records promoted and distributed it. Early singles labels were orange and later became black, red and white. Ray Charles Enterprises owns the catalog.

In 1973 Charles left ABC, closed Tangerine and started Crossover Records.

The Raelettes had many releases that sold well, Louis Jordan was also signed as were Ike & Tina Turner, Percy Mayfield and the Ohio Players. Many of the later recordings are now sought after in "Northern Soul" circles.
