Tabula Bantina

The Tabula Bantina ("Bantia Tablet") is one of the major sources about the ancient Oscan language. It was found near Banzi (known as Bantia in the antiquity) in 1793. It is a bronze tablet stored in the Naples Museum.

The tablet was originally part of a law code in Latin, but has been overturned and used for an inscription of 33 lines in Oscan related to affairs of Bantia, probably a municipal statute.

The Oscan text probably dates form around 89 BC but whether it was written before or after the Social War (War of the Allies) is disputed.
