T. P. Balagopalan M. A. is a 1986 Indian Malayalam language comedy-drama film directed by Sathyan Anthikkad and written by Sreenivasan. It stars Mohanlal, Shobana, Balan K. Nair, Kuthiravattam Pappu, Maniyanpilla Raju, Sreenivasan, Sukumari, and K. P. A. C. Lalitha.
Mohanlal received his first Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his role as T. P. Balagopalan.
The film revolves around T.P. Balagopalan (Mohanlal),an unemployed, middle class post-graduate who tries to build himself as an entrepreneur-pwd contractor-and also needs to take care of his extended family members. The film underplays social and political fabric of Kerala during 1980s in the midst of widespread unemployment and the trade union issues.
The music was composed by A. T. Ummer and the lyrics were written by Sathyan Anthikkad.
