Susan Wagle is a Republican member of the Kansas Senate, representing Kansas' 30th district since 2001. She was elected President of the Senate of Kansas in 2013.
Wagle has a bachelor's degree from Wichita State University. From 1979-1982 she was a teacher in the Wichita Public Schools. She then became involved in real-estate investment. She was elected to the Kansas House of Representatives in 1990 and to the Kansas State Senate in 2000.
She was elected Senate president on Dec. 3, 2012, winning 23-9 over Sen. Steve Abrams of Arkansas City. A cancer survivor, she is the Kansas Senate's first female president, and the first Senate president from Wichita. She began serving as Senate president in 2013.
Wagle lives in Wichita and is married to Tom Wagle.
