"Supergirl Lives" is the ninth episode of the second season from The CW television series Supergirl, which aired on January 23, 2017. The episode was directed by Kevin Smith and was based on a planned movie that he wanted to direct, "Superman Lives," which was scrapped afterwards. The episode is also a family affair, as his daughter Harley Quinn Smith appears in this outing, with Kevin appearing in a cameo.

During a chase with armed jewel thieves, Supergirl uses her heat vision to stop the van, prompting two of the thieves get away, only to be thwarted by Guardian, who then comes to Winn's aid to subdue the third member of the gang. Later that night, Kara complains to Alex that she's in "a funk", which prompts Alex to cancel her date with Maggie to keep her sister company. By the next morning, Maggie and Alex decided to spend the day together by avoiding work altogether. At the same time at CatCo, the jewelry heist that Kara and James thwarted is putting them at odds on how it will be handled as a story, which is not getting any support from Snapper. When a woman arrived to talk to Snapper about finding her missing daughter, Izzy Williams, Kara tells her that she'll help find her, despite Snapper objecting to this because it isn't newsworthy.

Later in the day, Kara shows up at the bar, and discovered that Mon-El is now working as the bartender and tried to offer some unwanted advice to her, but Kara is there to meet Maggie to ask about the missing person, and learns that a pattern of more victims like Izzy are suddenly starting to occur lately, which around the same time at a abandoned warehouse another victim is being pushed into a device by a scientist, who then thanks the mastermind responsible for finding "another perfect candidate," Veronica "Roulette" Sinclair.

Meanwhile, Kara ask Winn to help find out more about the disappearances and comes up with information involving blood work, so she and Mon-El go undercover by investigating a clinic that is tied to the missing individuals, but is soon confronted by the scientist and attacks them. As a portal opens up, Kara gains the upper hand and fights off the attackers before she enters the portal, only to discover that the planet she arrived at has rendered her weak because it is harnessed by the Red Sun. As a alien attempts to attack her, Mon-El arrived to save her. Although they are now stuck in the planet, Kara tells Mon-El she wants to find the woman as she witnessed a fortress that was in the distance. As they head towards it, Mon-El's leg is caught in a trap and the two are captured by a alien named Jo, who ended up saving Mon-El and is helping the visitors. She tells them that the planet is called Maaldoria, or Slaver's Moon, whom Mon-El is familiar with but the fortress is escape proof with no way in or out, which gives Kara a idea, and that is to surrender. When they do arrive, the scientist leads Kara and Mon-El to the prisoners, and find the woman, Suddenly Roulette shows up and sees Supergirl, telling her that because she shut down her fight club operations she resorted to slave trafficking. Roulette also has the humans ready to be sold to the Dominators, as a representative from the race is ready to take them.
