The Summer North American Tour was a concert tour by rock band ZZ Top. Launched in support of the group's 2003 album, Mescalero, the tour's concerts were performed in festivals and casinos from June through September 2004. The tour's backdrop was made of multi-colored tinsel. Band members Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill wore sequined smoking jackets designed by Jaime Castaneda. The Summer North American Tour consisted of two legs and 50 shows.
With 50 shows performed, each had a similar set list, with 18-19 songs played. The concerts typically began with techno music played through the PA system, during which the band members walked on stage and began the show.
Each show opened with a performance of "Got Me Under Pressure", followed by "Pincushion", "Waitin' for the Bus", "Jesus Just Left Chicago", and "I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide." "Manic Mechanic" was featured in many concerts, as well as "Buck Nekkid" and "Mexican Blackbird." Covers by Freddie King were also played, including "I Love the Woman" and "Going Down." "Cheap Sunglasses", "Party on the Patio", and "Viva Las Vegas" were performed at every show. The hits from the Eliminator album were played, including "Gimme All Your Lovin'", "Sharp Dressed Man", and "Legs."
The encores always consisted of "Tube Snake Boogie", "La Grange", and "Tush." A total of 19 different songs were played throughout the tour. "Buck Nekkid" was the only song from the Mescalero album to be featured in the set. "Manic Mechanic" was omitted during the first 18 shows. On the last show of the tour, "Jailhouse Rock" was played instead of "Tube Snake Boogie."
