Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber is Minister of State in the United Arab Emirates, the Group CEO of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), the Chairman of Masdar, and the Chairman of Abu Dhabi Ports in addition to sitting on a variety corporate and non-profit boards.

Al Jaber holds a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Southern California in the United States, a PhD in business and economics from Coventry University in the United Kingdom, and an MBA from the California State University at Los Angeles.

Al Jaber was appointed Director-General of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) on 15 February 2016 and named later that month as the firm's CEO.

After his appointment, Al Jaber, formulated and implemented a strategy to modernize ADNOC, optimize its operations and enhance its efficiency, performance and profitability.

As CEO he has overseen a revision of the company’s partnership approach, investment strategy and capital structure. In addition, he has consolidated the various operating units under a single unified brand.

On 13 November 2017, Al Jaber announced ADNOC’s plans to list a minority stake in ADNOC Distribution, the UAE’s largest fuel distributor, on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX). While ADNOC at a holding company level will always remain wholly owned by the Abu Dhabi Government, this is the first time ADNOC has placed shares in one of its subsidiary companies on the public markets.

Al Jaber sits on Abu Dhabi’s Supreme Petroleum Council (SPC), which acts as the Board of Directors for ADNOC. On 27 November 2017, the SPC approved ADNOC’s plans for capital expenditure of over AED400 billion (US$109 billion) on upstream and downstream expansion projects. The SPC also approved ADNOC’s plans to pursue international downstream investments for the first time in the company’s history.

In November 2016, Al Jaber founded the Abu Dhabi CEO Roundtable, an annual gathering of many of the world’s leading NOCs, IOCs and petrochemical companies to discuss critical issues facing the global energy sector. The second Abu Dhabi CEO roundtable, held on 12 November 2017, was attended by 27 of the energy industry’s leading chief executives.
